It's Official My Parents Closed On Their House! Where Are Dad's Pants?

Today mom and dad called from Cullman Alabama, it now official, money wired and they have officially closed!  Hooray, this has been wearing heavy on everyone's mind in the family.

While it was not the smoothest transaction in a REALTOR daughter eye's, my parents are happy and our now in the works of having a home built for them.

Mom did not call to tell that they officially closed, she wanted to know where her cannisters were and did I mark the box special?

As we talked I retraced my steps...3rd truck...marked fragile and kitchen.

As I sat and thought about it..if it were mine I would have marked it COFFEE..instead I included love notes that said mom and dad I will miss you!  I love you guys! and of course smiley faces.

I got teary eyed thinking that I won't be able to visit as often...

oh I know I need to just get over it!..

Funny thing..they are going back to Pompano Beach next week to renew their vows..Its amazing 50 years of marriage...and now I get to watch them exchange vows.

We still have another problem, dad can't find any of his dress clothes, they are packed in a box somewhere! Before we hung up I told him..."Dad if you can't find the boxes, please go out and buy yourself some new dress clothes.  As a daughter, I would not want to see you in shorts on your wedding day!"

I just wonder though before they take that walk down the isle..should I offer him the same option he gave me before I got married..."Here are the car keys...you don't have to do this..you can either go out the back door or meet your future husband at the altar! Which is it and he told me a joke.  Yes I had last minute jitters..even the minister was telling jokes.

Should I or Shouldn't I??????

Nah..I won't give him that option..I love them as a couple..after 50 years I think my dad is pretty sure!

Midori~  How wonderful, 50 years together!  It isn't the norm anymore, is it?  Too easy for people to just walk away...  I wish your parents many more happy years together!

OK. I have to ask. Why would you have marked your "fragile and kitchen" box marked as "coffee" instead?

Howo cute Midori!  50 years is amazing.  I don't think too many people in my and the next generation will reach that milestone... (or want to!!)  THANK you for your very generous comments yesterday about my photographs.

Thanks for the comments everyone!  Lisa Hill you always ask great questions!  I would have marked it COFFEE because I am an addict and I probably would have loaded those cannisters in my car if it were my move instead of the moving trucks!

What a sweet story - I have a soft spot for older folks -but you're parents remind me of mine!  I helped them move recently - but fortunately it was closer to me rather then further......Renewing their vows.....how cool...........and wonderful for you to be a part of that........For my folks it will be 55 years next week!  :-)

Midori, I'm so glad it is all final for them and they can begin their new life now. I wish I could go with you and help celebrate with them when they renew their vows. They seem like family I've heard so much about them. Give them big hugs for me when you see them!

I am happy things closed and you and your family can move on to the next stage.   I have to say I remember selling my grandmothers house which was 4th generation and it was heart breaking.   So many memories wraped in those four walls.

Make many many more!    Have a great holiday weekend!

Midori,

50 years is a long time, it is something that you do not hear much about anymore.  Sure hope that your dad finds his dress clothes before the trip.

Thank you so much for sharing your family with us.
