Midori's Real Estate Resource Secrets...

Yesterday I had a great conversation with Maggie Dokic.  We talked about how we are both in the "Mode!"  What I mean by in the Mode is the revamping and putting our systems into place and preparing for a better 2008.  Being focused and working hard to achieve our goals. 

 
So in honor of being in the Mode, I thought I would share some real estate resource secrets!

Either inexpensive or FREE!

  • Did you know that you can purchase domain names through Yahoo anywhere between $1.99 a year to $9.95 a year. Their rates change daily. That's right, if you catch yahoo on the right day and if you have never purchased domain names through them, you can get a domain name for as little as $1.99.

  • The best bang for your buck on websites is point2agent.  I have had a success website, Meyers Internet website.   At one time I had created my own with front-page.  With point2agent the standard site FREE- 15 pages, 15 photo's per listing and no cap on how many listings you can place on your site.  Free virtual tours, branded or unbranded and over 150,000 Realtors on their network.  When you place your listings on your website your listings will be automatically placed on other sources on the web.

  • Did you know there is a google language translator for blogs, check out my personal blog and see.  Ever since I placed the google language translator and the currency converter I have increased my traffic on the international market.  Yes, it was a matter of 24 hours before I started seeing visitors from all over the world.

  • Did you know you can order business cards through 1print.us and get 1000  2 sided, full color, UV hi-gloss coated cards for as little as $39.95 plus shipping and handling.  You provide the design or they will do it for you at an additional charge.





  • One of the best tricks I learned early on in my career is to use company marketing materials and personalize them. If you are on a tight budget, use your company marketing materials and attach business cards or use a stamp to make them yours.  Personalize them...make them yours!
  • Not creative enough to create your own website content, there are many resources available and it's Free.
  • Ever wonder where I get my photo's for my blogs.  Become a member of Deviant Art and use all the photos you want for FREE!
  • Looking for an affordable call capture system, try adtrakker, you can purchase this system for as little as $24.95 a month.  Receive marketing ideas, scripts and other resources as well. 
  • Interested in new widgets for your blogs, go to widgetbox, a great free resource for widgets.

I too have been incorporating new systems in my business.  Most of the ideas were picked up either here in Active Rain or through the CRS classes and convention earlier in the year.

Hi Midori - wow, what a list of great resources, and I love that they're free or pretty darn inexpensive!  I love the tip on the business cards.  I've tried a number of companies, and am always looking for a good company for those.  I never thought to have a translator on my sites, I'll give that some thought.  Widgets and graphics - who wouldn't love those tips??

Great tips - thank you so much for sharing your findings. Some of my favorite freebie or low cost sites are www.postlets.com for posting to Craigslist and other sites, you can even use the ads for your blog. I also love www.xpressdocs.com for printing fliers and postcards. They are inexpensive and high quality and they overnight them to you. We've used their fliers to really stand out in our area.

Missy-ok, you can use any photo and yes there are some you have to ask permission.   And they will let you in most instances because they are trying to promote themselves as artists!  You are allowed to use stock images...it's in there FAQ's and help.  Also, I get my pics from cooltext, image chef and microsoft.  There are many sources out there.....these are my favorites.

It's not everyday that agents share their "good stuff" with other agents. You are truly a wonderful human being. One of the resources I use for posting high quality content to Craigslist is www.vflyer.com they are similar to postlets.com

I would add on blogs that there are lots of free resources... I tend to like the low cost ones instead.  My blog is hosted by GoDaddy very inexpensively.., then I installed Wordpress on it and customized it

 

it could be a great site for someone that is a realtor too!

Matt-be on the lookout...I have lots up my sleeve and 5 posts in drafts.

Adam-my belief, we have to make the entire profession look good by sharing I do just that.  An improvement.  Also, I have learned in life when you give.....it comes back 3 fold...I got many rewards already.  Kind e-mails, comments, a featured...points...how lucky am I?  there is plenty more where that came from.  Also there are occasions when I am blue, upset or angry I can go to activerain and smile, laugh, cry....it's all good.  you reap what you sow in life....for me life is good.

Awesome list, thank you for sharing.  Business cards, postcard (standard and large) can be purchase through vistaprint.com.  They will send you emails with specials that are free from time to time, they even have t-shirts too.  The specials are free but you pay for shipping and they do a good jobs on their printing.
